I've seen some comment earlier complaining about the Dayton DTA-2 Class T Digital Audio Amplifier Module having problems since it doesn't have a heat sink. If you look closely, you'll see that the area under and in front of the amp chip is ground. What I did was drill a small hole (about the size of a 6/32 screw) in front of the amp chip. I then connected a heat sink to the bottom of the board so that the heat sink was pressed steel table top up against steel table top the ground solder. This has worked well without any problems. I'm sure it voids any warrenty, however. Just be careful and make sure that the heat sink doesn't short against anything...only touching the large solder ground steel table top area under the amp chip.

Yeah, I think that is a better solution. I was not aware of that type of heat sink. One other issue to watch out for; if you use standoffs in the two holes located roughly in the middle of the board, be sure to use nylon washer on the top and bottom (I also used a nylon screw, just to be safe) to insulate the standoff from the board. Without it I noticed steel table top that a couple of solder pads would have been shorted.
After using mine a bit, I would definitely advise steel table top anyone using this amp to add a heat sink. I'm using it right now to burn in some drivers, and the heat sink I've added is getting pretty warm...at steel table top times it's uncomfortable to the touch (though not unbearable).
What would happen if i used this extensively without a heatsink? My real question is, can this unit malfunction / fail in such a way as to drop low frequencies? I originally had this hooked up to a 2-way bypass and the woofers worked really really well. After maybe an hour or two of really testing the capabilities of the amp, I'm getting significantly less low frequencies coming out of hte woofer. I also don't have any equipment to properly test the output, so I'm grasping steel table top at reasons for this.
Did you let it cool down and try it again? From my own experience, I wouldn't run it without a heatsink. While it has various steel table top protections (short circuit, and maybe over temp), you don't want to operate where going "out of range" is likely to happen...don't rely on built-in safeties. Design your setup so that it operates steel table top well within the limits of the amp.
Good to know. I'm more or less a novice at this. The long story is I'm building a solar charging amplifier. I set up the system and took it to my roof to test, where i turned up the volume to see what kind of response steel table top i could get out of it, and was VERY VERY surprised at the low freq. I come back a week later to try it again and (subjectively) find that it is not the same. I didnt touch the setup in between, so i have no idea what caused the change.

I'm about to wire a pair of these into a couple mini boom boxes. I have a small array (4 in parallel with their own resistors) of LED's that I'm using for accent plastic dish rack lighting in the project. I fashioned the LEDs so they could run off of 12v power since that's what I'm using to power the amplifiers. It's a 12v5a power supply. Where on the DTA-2 PCB is 12v out that I can tap into for the LEDs?? plastic dish rack The volume control is also the on/off control. I'd like the LEDs to power on with the knob. I DO NOT want to add a completely different plastic dish rack power switch. I "might" be able to utilize the on-board LED plug, but is that already ratcheted down to 5v?? My LEDs are already mounted plastic dish rack with resistors (for 12v operation) and I cannot remove them at this point. Anyone have experience with these? Who can read this thing with all the lines and funny shapes and help me out?? LOL...Thanks.
Not sure on the schematic, but as far as the actual amp goes, why not measure for voltage at the pot? It should have one connection that's hot all the time, and one across from that comes on with the switch. Not sure if it's 12v at the switch though, but if you have a meter it isn't hard to find out, even a cheapy meter will do the trick. I modded mine, the power supply is inside the case and I use a 120v switch to turn everything on and off. I'm pretty sure there are two connections that feed power in and out of the pot for the original switch though. I soldered them together at the board on mine and used a non switching pot among other mods that I did.
That's kinda what I figured, but I'm at work planning my next garage session on this particular project and I'm just looking plastic dish rack for a quick answer to a dumb question. I will do that when I get home...thanks. I'm sure one of those red wires is my ticket.

I currently have the bluetooth wired to the power jack on my boombox but when the boombox is plugged plastic dish rack in the bluetooth is always on. Pretty annoying. I really want to figure this out. I already wired it into the switch one way and it worked, but there was all kinds of associated noise so I was pulling power from the wrong place.

I'm working on a little project drainer for a friend of mine. She wants a sound bar type speaker to mount under her flat screen in her salon. drainer It's a bigger place, and the little TV speakers just don't cut it for clarity when it's noisy. I've already got the driver combo and amp picked out, but the only problem is that she doesn't want to have to walk over and adjust the volume knob all the time. So I was wondering if anyone knew of or had experience with a small IR remote module that can be tied in to replace the volume knob on a Dayton DTA-2? Hopefully something around 5V since I already have a few regulators on hand. Once this project is finished I will be doing a write up if anyone wants to try one for yourselves. So far I'm pretty excited about it.

I would check the TV to see if it has a variable output, some of them do, that way you can set your amp and just use the volume control on the TV. If it has a headphone output drainer then that should work too, but some sets also have a regular audio output that can be controlled with the TV volume.
Yeah I tried to get her to check to see if it was the type that is variable, or if it's the type that shuts off the volume option when an aux source is hooked up. She said I was speaking greek lol. The only thing I do know for sure is that it does have L&R RCA audio outs. Not the single digital out thankfully. Next time I'm by there I'm going to check it out, but I figured I'd check ahead of time just in case. I never thought about the headphone out jack though. drainer That should be variable regardless of the type I think. Thanks!

I purchased two Dayton DTA-2 (#300-385) cream gloss kitchen ideas amps to turn into dedicated headphone amplifiers for work. (one for me, one for a friend). I soldered them as instructed (using the capacitors across the terminals), wrapped the speaker output wires one time around the ferrite core, and then into a 3.5mm headphone jack, combining the L- and R-. I also purchased the 2amp 12v power supply recommended by Parts-Express. On the first one I built, there was an incredible amount of noise, at a slight but very noticable audible level. So I have this white noise hissing that does not change with the amplifier or the sources volume. It is there whether I have my source equipment plugged into the unit or not. On the second one I built, I chose to wire L+, L-, and R+ to see if combining the two -'s was a bad idea and would make a difference. It did not. I attached the R- and the imaging cream gloss kitchen ideas got much better, but the noise was still very prominent, and very much identical to the first build. Has anyone else had a similar issue, and if so, what did you do to resolve it? Thanks in advance!
The T-amps you have utilized are dual-bridged type amplifiers, and you should not allow the - connections to see each other, or the amp will be noisy and likely die at a young age. Not a good idea! Wolf

I don't know what price point you want to pay and how good a headphone amp you need, (if your headphones don't cost $150 ignore this). Bottlehead Labs.coms has a great little one tube headphone amp kit that's would be outstanding at 5 times the price.
Those DTA-2 amps are NOT meant to be used for headphones. No Class-D (or class-T) cream gloss kitchen ideas amplifier should ever be used for this purpose. Additionally, the DTA-2 amps require cream gloss kitchen ideas a differential speaker load, as versus the single-ended load that headphones present. Thank you very much for your replies. I thought an amp was an amp. I never knew a unique situation existed like this, so that is why I performed no research before buying them. I saw the price, and I saw the approval ratings and went nuts. For the record I run Grado SR225 and AudioTechnica ATH-M50s. I cannot return the amps because cream gloss kitchen ideas they have been all soldered on and generally molested. Two new neutral mixed-ligand cobalt(II) complexes, [CoCl 2 (dmdphphen)] 1 and [Co(NCS) 2 (dmdphphen)]   2 , where dmdphphen is 2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline, were synthesized and characterized by an elemental analysis, UV-Vis, IR, TG/DTA, cyclic voltammetry CV, and single X-ray diffraction. dekutec Complex 2 crystallized as monoclinic with a space group P2 1 /c. Co(II) ions are located in a distorted tetrahedral environment. dekutec TG/DTA result shows that these complexes are very stable and decomposed through one-step dekutec reaction. The two complexes exhibit a quasireversible one-electron response dekutec at −550 and 580 mV versus Cp 2 Fe/Cp 2 Fe + , which has been assigned to Co(I)/Co(II) and Co(II)/Co(III) couples. Absorption spectral studies dekutec reveal that such complexes exhibit hypochromicity during their interaction with CT-DNA. 1. Introduction
1,10-Phenanthroline ligands and their derivatives are very attractive in metal complexes dekutec [ 1 – 3 ]. In addition, their metal complexes are frequently used as catalyst for the enantioselective hydrolysis of -protected amino acid esters, allylic substitutions, reduction of acetophenone [ 3 – 6 ], and oxidation of olefins [ 7 ]. Also, cobalt(II) complexes with a reversible Co(II)/Co(III) are a good oxygen carrier and can oxidize the double bond of the olefins [ 8 – 10 ].
The ability of the cobalt phenanthroline complexes to bind and to cleave DNA under physiological conditions is of current interest because of their potential applications in nucleic acids chemistry [ 11 ]. Also, these complexes are useful in footprinting studies [ 12 – 17 ]. The cleavage of DNA usually occurs through the heterocyclic bases, deoxyribose sugar moiety, or phosphodiester linkage [ 18 – 20 ]. For the mixed-ligand complexes to interact efficiently with DNA, the ligands need to be flat, have large surface area, and have a spatial geometry to interact with the base pairs in DNA [ 15 – 23 ]. By changing the ligands or the metal ions, it is possible to modify the interaction with nucleic acids [ 23 – 26 ].
Previously, a series of several mixed-ligand mononuclear [ 27 , 28 ] and dinuclear [ 29 , 30 ] metal complexes have a general formula MX 2 (dmphen) (2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline, X = Cl, NCS) prepared in our lab. These complexes were found to be suitable precursors for spherical shape metal oxide nanoparticles [ 31 ]. Herein, dekutec two new neutral mixed-ligand cobalt(II) complexes, [CoCl 2 (dmdphphen)] 1 and [Co(NCS) 2 (dmdphphen)] 2, where dmdphphen is (2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline), were synthesized and characterized dekutec by different spectroscopic methods. When it comes to combining datasets, the alternative to merging is appending, which is combining datasets on the same variables to produce a result with more observations. Appending datasets is not the subject for today. First of all, I would just emphasize that this DIY is based on my own experience. I just tried my way and do not know how the "original" approach.
